Grupo Gondi has more than 58 years experience in the paper and packaging industry and is one of the largest packaging companies in Mexico. Consisting of seven companies and a labour force of more than 3,800 their multi-plant operation includes 5 paper mills and over 40 converting machines. Faced with a highly competitive global marketplace, continual and rapid changes in the industry alongside the usual cost pressures, Grupo Gondi continue to strive for business efficiency. When Grupo Gondi approached Onesys they had identified a need for much greater uniformity of systems within their sales operation. They were looking for an integrated system with a centralised database in order to improve on quote lead times.
Grupo Gondi explains the background to their purchase of OrderlineBOX, “Our various plants were using a quoting system and the main issue was that there was no central database and our processes were somewhat prone to extend our lead-time from enquiry to quote which were longer than we wanted. We needed a system which would allow us to store standard specs and improve lead-times then facilitate deeper post-quotation analysis.”
OrderlineBOX was chosen as the ideal solution. Grupo Gondi now have a total of 7 staff across 4 different Mexican cities using the Spanish version of OrderlineBOX. This number is planned to increase to 15 in the near future as they roll it out across their various operations.

OrderlineBOX is a very modern and flexible software solution, a web-based application based on the latest technology. It is extremely quick and easy to access and customisations have been quick to implement. Gondi describes the positive reaction from his staff, “They are very pleased with the software and glad to have made the switch to OrderlineBOX because it is allowing them to improve their results. We quote for around 500 different SKUs per month which increases to 800 in peak periods. OrderlineBOX has allowed us to improve our lead time and ensures we are consistent in our quotes for different style specs.”
Gondi is open about the changes in approach which they have needed to embrace internally following implementation of the system, “The implementation went very well considering that we are based in Mexico which meant we had the additional challenge of a considerable time difference. Initially it was difficult adapting to a different approach to costing and quoting, but now it is established, we are more than happy to have made the change.”

We have yet to start quantifiying the benefits but we are sure that OrderlineBOX is reducing lead-times and improving accuracy, which in turn is helping us increase sales.“ So would Gondi recommend the software to others? “Definitely.”
